The Folger is a federal-revival townhouse on N Street, one of the last blocks of Dupont Circle to preserve its full 19th-century streetscape. The parlor floor has been restored in its entirety — the marble foyer, the library mantle, the original gaslight fixtures (now electrified to museum standard) — and the upper floors converted to three bedrooms of generous proportion.
The kitchen opens to a walled garden at the rear. The garden is shaded by an old ginkgo and paved in reclaimed bluestone. Two residents of the building share it; the principal use falls to the parlor apartment by lease.
Margaret founded Keener Management in 1984 with a single federal townhouse on N Street and a conviction that residential property deserved the attention of architecture. Four decades on, that conviction has not changed. She oversees the firm's editorial voice and its relationships with owners.
